The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Germany held the Opening of the 2026 Chamber Year in Berlin on Tuesday, 10 February, a key event to present the projects and strategic priorities for the new financial year. The event, hosted at the Embassy of Spain in Germany, brought together more than 60 members and guests, who gathered in a distinguished institutional setting to officially inaugurate the new Chamber year, reaffirming the occasion as a landmark event for the institution’s business community.

In his welcoming address, the Ambassador of Spain to Germany, Mr. Pascual Navarro, highlighted the Chamber’s role as a key player in strengthening economic and business relations between Spain and Germany. During his speech, the Ambassador also reviewed the current geopolitical context, with particular reference to the EU-Mercosur agreement and its impact on the European trade environment. In this regard, Navarro emphasized how this framework may influence economic relations and business opportunities for companies within the Spanish-German business community associated with the Chamber.

The event was also honoured by the presence of Inmaculada Riera, Director General of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, who underlined the year of transformation experienced by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Germany and stated that 2026 should be a year of “consolidation and growth,” strengthening its position as a leading institution for the Spanish-German business community. “The Chamber exists by and for companies,” Riera remarked, highlighting the services and opportunities it offers to its members.

Fernando Silva, President of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Germany, delivered the keynote address of the event, reviewing the previous Chamber year and presenting the strategic priorities for 2026. He described the year ahead as a period of “consolidation and the launch of new initiatives aimed at strengthening services for members, expanding the business network and further enhancing the Chamber’s positioning.”

To conclude the speeches, Lucinio Muñoz, Chief Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Spain in Berlin, emphasized the Chamber’s strategic role as a bridge between companies and institutions, as well as the importance of collaboration in strengthening the Spanish-German business ecosystem.

The event was followed by a welcome reception hosted by the Ambassador in the Embassy’s reception hall, accompanied by a networking aperitif that encouraged the exchange of views and the strengthening of professional relationships among attendees.

New Membership Options

The opening event once again provided an opportunity to present the actions carried out by the Chamber in recent months and the new proposals for 2026. In this regard, Fernando Silva highlighted the four strategic priorities shaping the Chamber’s agenda: visibility, trade support, networking and institutional representation. Among the achievements of 2025, a 30% increase in membership stands out, resulting from the expansion of activities.

Silva also introduced the two new membership categories — Plus and Premium — launched by the Chamber and designed for companies seeking to enhance their visibility and positioning within the business community. Informative sessions will soon be organized to provide further details on these new participation options.

The Chamber would like to express its sincere gratitude for the continued support of the Embassy of Spain in Germany in hosting this event, the ongoing collaboration of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, as well as the trust of its new Premium sponsors and the attendance of members and guests, who form the foundation for the consolidation of this renewed stage.
