LUIGI PATÌMO (ACCIONA) NEW PRESIDENT OF THE SPANISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN ITALY

2024-03-12

Luigi Patìmo has been elected President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy. The appointment came with the unanimous support of the Board of Directors and the full backing of the outgoing President, Gianluca Landolina, who a few months ago was appointed Country CEO of Cellnex UK and moved to London to lead the Cellnex Group’s activities in the UK.

This is a sign of great recognition for the Apulian executive, Country Manager for Italy of the Spanish group Acciona and former member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy for more than 10 years.

‘This appointment is a source of great pride, because it comes after a long journey of commitment and dedication, aimed at contributing to the promotion and strengthening of economic relations between Spain and Italy,’ said Luigi Patìmo. ‘At the same time, it brings with it a great responsibility, that of continuing to write a history that for more than 70 years has favoured the bilateral economic development of two great countries. The prosperity of the economic system goes hand in hand with the growth of trade, investment and business-to-business collaboration, which must be promoted with an innovative and sustainable approach’.

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy is an institution founded in 1953. It currently has 180 active members in the main economic and commercial sectors of the country, with a turnover of 20,000 million euros and approximately 40,000 permanent employees in Italy.

Mr. Patìmo is the second President of Italian nationality in the history of the Chamber, succeeding Mr. Landolina, to whom the Chamber of Commerce expressed its gratitude for the exceptional results achieved during his mandate. During this mandate there was an unprecedented growth in the number and quality of members, as well as the full consolidation of the financial independence of the Chamber, under the banner of the values of sustainability and innovation. Under his leadership, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy was also the first Chamber of Commerce in the world to receive the UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality certification.

‘I am particularly happy to pass the baton to a person of such proven management skills and human depth as Luigi Patìmo. I am proud of the results achieved over the years by a team of exceptional people splendidly led by Yolanda Gimeno de Esteban, our Secretary General,’ said Landolina. ‘What has been achieved in these years has also been possible thanks to the full support of our Executive Committee, made up of exceptional women and men who lead our member companies. Finally, I would like to dedicate a special mention to the Spanish Ambassador to Italy, Miguel Fernández-Palacios, who has never ceased his active and dynamic support’.

The Spanish Ambassador to Italy, Miguel Fernández-Palacios, also expressed his congratulations and wishes for good work: ‘I wish the best of luck to the new presidency of the Chamber, and to the new Board of Directors, who will continue to count on the support of the Embassy in the common task of supporting Spanish companies’.
